What are the advantages of applying to a Nanny or an Au-Pair  agency?

Au-Pair agents are mostly good experts in rather a sensitive field. An au-pair position is really not a normal "job", because the au-pair works as an employee and he or she is temporarily integrated within a family. It is a important relationship which mostly ends after the agreed time.
Agencies look into the contract or create a contract between the au-pair and the families, they help and  do the red tape, whenever an agency is needed. Often agencies can find a cheap way for the au-pair's social security and other important insurances.
The fact that au-pair agents often know a lot about the families and cooperate with them makes it possible to solve smaler or bigger problems more easily, if ever they arise. If it is necessary, another family, already known, or another new one in the area can be found and also be interviewed to make sur that it matches well with the au-pair. Often in dependence from the country a change of a family makes the existing visa invalid, so that only the agent really can apply within time for a new one. Just staying on would put the au-pair into an illegal position.

This is for example often the case, when an au-pair from an EU-country works in another country which does not belong to the European Union. The visa is valid for the first family only. It is only the helping agent, who is really able in the short time to obtain a new visa for a subsequent placement. 

Au-pair agencies are in nearly all countries are always licensed and regularily checked by their authorities. All agents listed here are known to be professional and reliable so that we can recommend them. If you get other information please let us know. This list is flexible and can be changed.

Mostly it hardly pays to look for a family or an au-pair yourself. If you really do not know which agency to pick, we recommend to compare different offers and then you can decide and go ahead. In Germany agencies often cannot offer the requiered applicant. We would like to recommend to contact more than one of the listed agencies.
